Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By using the Houstonian bot ("the Bot") within the Houston Discord server, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please refrain from interacting with the Bot.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Bot, consistent with Discord's own Terms of Service. If we become aware that a user is under 13, their data will be deleted promptly.

3. What the Bot Does

Houstonian provides community features for the Houston Discord server, including:

• Entertainment commands — roulette, bomb, duck hunt, hot potato, ship, and others.
• Community tools — event RSVPs, role management, announcements, and weather updates.
• AI conversation features — an AI model that can respond to messages and summarize chat.
• Analytics — server stats, leaderboards, and activity tracking visible through the dashboard.
• Moderation tools — DrunkTank, ban tracking, and audit logging available to server staff.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Bot only for its intended community purposes. You must not:

• Spam or flood commands to degrade performance for other users.
• Attempt to exploit, reverse-engineer, or abuse the Bot's features.
• Use the Bot to harass, threaten, or target other members.
• Attempt to access data or functionality beyond what is available to your role.
• Use the Bot in ways that violate Discord's Terms of Service.

5. Data Collection

The Bot collects and stores certain data about your activity in the server. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details on what is collected and how it is used.

6. Moderation & Access

Server staff and ops may restrict or remove your access to Bot features at any time, at their discretion, consistent with the Houston Discord server rules. The Bot may place you in the DrunkTank (temporary timeout) or remove you from the server as a consequence of gameplay or rule violations.

7. Termination

Server staff may remove you from the server or revoke your access to Bot features at any time and for any reason. Upon removal, your data may be retained in moderation records to prevent abuse but will not be used for any other purpose. You may request deletion of your non-moderation data at any time — see our Privacy Policy for how.

8. No Warranty

The Bot is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no guarantee that the Bot will be available at all times, error-free, or produce any particular outcome.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators of the Bot shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the Bot. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to access the Bot in the past twelve months (which, for a free community bot, is zero).

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Bot after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
